When people think of missions, the images that usually come to mind are romanticized versions of what really takes place. Ministry is messy and missions even more so.
Giving yourself wholly to the service of others always comes with perils. But now imagine a ministry that sees your family sacrificing for and growing close to people who end up shot or dead because of gang violence. That isn't on the flyers at the North American Missions Board, but it is a reality for those called to bring the message of Jesus Christ to inner cities.
This week, missionary Bryan Kelly shares what it’s like on the front lines of urban evangelism as the founder and executive director of Common Ground, a non-profit that spearheads inner-city ministry in Montgomery. He shares the incredible work he and his family are involved in as well as some of the stories you don't usually think about when it comes to ministry.
The good news is Common Ground hopes to expand its efforts. Kelly fills us in on those plans and the opportunity he sees. As the Good Book shares, “The harvest is plentiful…”
Listening to this podcast, you will be encouraged by the fruit of the harvest Kelly has seen over the years while also sobered by the stories of a world most Alabamians hope to avoid.

The Great Commission given by Jesus in the New Testament states: "All authority in Heaven and Earth has been given to me, go therefore and make disciples of all nations and baptize them in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded.”
Have you ever thought about what things would look like if we were successful in the Great Commission? What if this nation realized that all authority in Heaven and Earth belonged to Christ the King and we observed all that he commanded us? What would Alabama look like?
Not long ago, Western civilization and America believed that the Church provided moral guidance while the State had the duty of establishing law and order which reflected those moral precepts.
Some will say that to do so creates a theocracy because religious values would inform the state’s actions. What seems to be forgotten in our times is that there is no such thing as a “values-neutral” government. All laws and actions are informed by values, by a moral order. While the Left’s moral order is not rooted in a religious tradition like Christianity or Islam, it is still a moral order that they are working hard to enshrine into law, forcing it upon the people through the power of government. As uncomfortable as it may be for some Americans, we must realize that a moral order will be reflected in our federal, state, and local governments. The question is, “Which one?”
This week Bryan sits down with America's most controversial pastor to discuss what it would take to re-create a Christian civilization, if the Bible calls for it, and how Christian education plays into it.
Overtime: If you saw Pastor Wilson on Tucker Carlson recently, the episode was titled "The Christian Nationalist they warned you about!"  There is perhaps no one who has leaned more into the label Christian Nationalist than Pastor Douglas Wilson. In this Overtime we ask him to define his terms and tell us why he believes Christian Nationalism is the path forward.

Another year, another session and gambling is still illegal in Alabama, but just barely.
This week Bryan sits down with 1819 News’ Editor in Chief Jeff Poor to dive into Alabama’s 2024 legislative session. Looming large in the conversation is the massive push for gambling and why it failed.
Unfortunately, plenty of good legislation didn't pass due to the relentless efforts of a few legislators hellbent on foisting their terrible gambling bill upon the people of Alabama.
But not all was lost, there were some great things that came out of the session, such as school choice and the appointment of the state health officer, which Jeff and Bryan dig into.
In a republic, it’s critical that every citizen stays informed. This is a must-watch episode that will give you the knowledge and perspective you need!In this week's Overtime segment – Only available to 1819 News Members! – Bryan and Jeff discuss the importance of Attorney General Steve Marshall and Senator Tommy Tuberville attending the Trump trial in New York.

Lies are the native language of feminists, whether they call abortion healthcare or tell women they can't be fulfilled unless they’re stuffed in office cubicles, climbing the corporate ladder. On this episode, Bryan is joined by The Ladies of Liberty (Dixie & Trixie, aka Amie Beth Shaver and Allison Sinclair of Alabama Unfiltered Radio) to dive into the lies and long-term effects of feminism.Starting with the outrageous commercial California’s Governor Gavin Newsom made about Alabama's abortion laws, we unpack the rotten fruit of feminism. Much of the destruction of Western Civilization and the nation in which we live can be placed at the foot of their denial of nature and nature’s God.Overtime Segment: The Ladies of Liberty share how Title IX is much bigger than simply sports and how the Biden administration’s changes will have enormous ramifications.

Much of the cultural decadence in our land can be placed at the foot of those in authority who have failed to act. That could be pastors or elected officials. Pastor John Amanchukwu of Turning Point Faith has some strong language for those in authority that are failing to protect children, specifically in public school libraries. Anyone in authority who fails to keep that filth out of the hands of children is either a punk or a pervert, there is no other way to see it. They are either cowards or pedophiles.
Pastor John shares his story of growing up in North Carolina and meeting his wife, whose father discipled him and introduced him to conservative politics and the idea of biblical faith being manifested in the political realm.
Buckle up, this one is a doozy!
Overtime Segment: Bryan and Pastor John discuss social engineering and the epidemic of fatherlessness in the black community, and how that epidemic is spreading to all communities in America and who is behind the spread. Hint: It's the Marxists (Those with the woke mind virus)

The COVID lockdowns pulled back the curtain on every level of our society. Wequickly found out who has the courage to stand on principle and who caved to the tyrannical forces of power. In a deeper way, we came to see what our leaders, friends, and family really valued. The results were deeply troubling.
For many of us, our faith is our core strength and motivator. It shapes our every action and inaction. As faith is our guide, we need our pastors, our shepherds, to be courageous in the face of the prowling wolves.
Unfortunately, we saw a lot of pastors and priests waver in the face of authoritarian policies. In the wake of the lockdowns, there’s been a quiet reshuffling as Christians seek out shepherds they can trust to stand strong. As such, the question of whether someone should find another church has become increasingly prevalent.
Pastor Rich Lusk discusses this issue with Bryan Dawson, helping listeners evaluate and discern whether they should stay or find a new church home. It’s not an easy or light decision and, thankfully, Pastor Lusk gives some great tips and questions we should all consider.
In this week's overtime segment Bryan and Rich Lusk discuss Christians in the political arena. Specifically, Pastor Lusk asks the question, “Where are our Dusty Deavers?”

In the last few years, you’ve probably seen at least one viral tweet questioningTaylor Swift as a role model for young girls or calling out effeminate church leaders. Odds are that tweet probably came from social-media flamethrower Eric Conn.
